The City of South Lake Tahoe has completed its grant application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for funding under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2. The City’s application for $7.5 million dollars is attached:
South Lake Tahoe NSP Final
The community of South Lake Tahoe really stepped up to partner with the City in this application to help bring these stimulus funds to our community. The level of demonstrated community support, together with the City Council’s (South Tahoe Redevelopment Agency Board) contribution commitment of $500,000 and permit fee waivers raises the City’s total leverage commitments to more than 22% ($1.6 million) of the City’s request for $7.5 million and will expand the use of funds to truly make a difference in the economic and housing stabilization of our community.
If awarded, funds will used to purchase and redevelopment of foreclosed and abandoned homes and residential properties, which will stabilize the housing market, stimulate the local economy and create jobs. For the City to be successful in its grant application, community input and assistance is very important. Local businesses and service providers who can offer assistance, in-kind contributions, donated land and construction materials and donated services will make a difference in the City’s ability to be awarded the funding.
