City Planning Staff received 21 allocations from the TRPA for single family residences and 11 allocations to be used for multiple-family residential units in the City of South Lake Tahoe for the 2008 building season.  These allocations were offered to property owners at the top of the waiting list.  If those offers were not accepted, the property owners had to go to the end of the list or be removed.

Planning staff then contacted property owners on the waiting list in numerical order to see which applicants would want to utilize the unaccepted allocations.  These property owners are not required to go to the end of the list or be removed if they do not accept the allocation.  This is because these property owners were not expecting to receive an allocation this year and would have very little time to get their plans ready and financing lined up.  Therefore, some allocations have been issued to property owners further down the list because those above them indicated that they would not use the allocation and stayed on the waiting list.

Effective 8/18/08, 21 people have accepted single family allocations and 11 multi-family allocations have been accepted. 

All property owners who have accepted allocations have deadlines to submit plans to the building division.  Failure to meet the deadline results in forfeiture of the allocation.  Should this occur, these allocations would become available to the next applicants on the waiting list.

Planning staff will be contacting property owners on the waiting list in numerical order to see which applicants would want to utilize any remaining allocations.  These property owners will not be required to go to the end of the list or be removed if they do not accept the allocation (see explanation in the 2nd paragraph).  Therefore, some allocations may be issued to property owners further down on the list because those above them did not want to move up to use the allocation and stayed on the waiting list.
